Motorcyclist Critical After Cape Greco Protaras Crash Leaves Woman With Broken Leg

On Wednesday afternoon, a 54-year-old motorcyclist was left in critical condition following a serious collision on the Cape Greco-Protaras Avenue in Cyprus. The accident occurred around 5:30 pm when the rider, who had been transporting a 49-year-old woman as a passenger, lost control of his motorcycle under unclear circumstances. Both riders were struck by the side of the road and the motorcycle overturned, resulting in multiple injuries for everyone involved.

Emergency responders transported the pair to Famagusta General Hospital first, where the female passenger was found to have sustained a fractured tibia and required immediate admission for treatment. The 54-year-old male sufferer experienced a subarachnoid haemorrhage along with several other serious injuries including multiple fractures. His condition proved severe enough that he needed to be intubated and subsequently moved to Nicosia General Hospital, where he continues to remain in critical condition despite ongoing medical care.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash on the A1/A6 corridor near Protaras. The incident has raised concerns among local motorcyclists about road safety standards and enforcement across Cyprus's major highways. Medical professionals emphasize the importance of proper riding techniques and adherence to traffic laws given the high-risk nature of two-wheeled vehicles on busy urban and coastal routes. The case underscores the urgent need for improved monitoring and education programs to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
