A 50-year-old woman remains hospitalised following a collision involving a car and two cyclists in the Paphos district on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 PM along the road connecting Polis Chrysochous to Androlikou. According to Cyprus Police reports, an 80-year-old male motorist was driving along the route when his vehicle struck a bicycle travelling directly ahead of him in the same direction.
The force of the impact propelled the first bicycle into a second cyclist riding alongside, causing both women to crash onto the roadway. In the immediate aftermath, the second cyclist fled the scene on foot or bike before emergency crews arrived, prompting an active search by law enforcement. Paramedics transported the 50-year-old victim to Polis Chrysochous Hospital for initial treatment, but her condition necessitated a transfer to Paphos General Hospital. Doctors confirmed she sustained an orbital fracture alongside leg injuries, and she remains admitted for further medical care.
Police investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the collision are continuing. Officers brought the 80-year-old driver to a police station for formal questioning regarding the sequence of events. Authorities also disclosed that the injured 50-year-old woman was residing in Cyprus illegally. Local police continue to gather evidence and are seeking information to identify and locate the second cyclist involved in the crash.
