Essential maintenance operations will take place along key stretches of the Nicosia-Limassol highway this Saturday, bringing localized lane restrictions for motorists traveling between major junctions. Cleaning crews will be servicing the highway's rainwater drainage systems between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM to ensure proper surface runoff along the busy transport corridor.
The scheduled works will cover both directions of the motorway, stretching across the extensive section between the Skarinou interchange and the Yermasoyia interchange. To facilitate the maintenance teams safely, the emergency hard shoulder will be partially closed in moving segments of up to 200 metres at a time. Highway authorities confirmed that regular driving lanes will remain open, allowing normal traffic flow to continue throughout the eight-hour work window.
Routine drainage clearing is critical for preventing dangerous water buildup and hydroplaning hazards on high-speed motorways during heavier rainfall across Cyprus. The Cyprus Police and transport officials urge all drivers planning to use the Nicosia-Limassol route on Saturday to remain alert, maintain a safe distance from maintenance personnel, reduce speed near active work zones, and pay close attention to all temporary road signs.
