Emergency Crews Rescue Two Trapped After Head-On Collision on Psematismenos-Zygi Road

Two people required emergency rescue on Friday afternoon after becoming trapped inside their vehicles following a violent head-on collision along the Psematismenos-Zygi road in the Larnaca district. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 PM, prompting a swift response from local emergency services as both private vehicles sustained heavy damage upon impact.

Firefighters deployed to the crash scene worked in close coordination with the Ambulance Service to extricate both drivers from the mangled wreckage. Emergency personnel utilized specialized tools to safely cut open the damaged vehicle frames and free the trapped occupants. Upon being extricated, both individuals were immediately handed over to paramedics and rushed to Larnaca General Hospital for urgent medical evaluation.

The Cyprus Fire Service has not yet released official details regarding the severity of the victims' injuries or their current condition. Traffic police officers secured the rural stretch following the crash to facilitate the rescue operation, clear debris from the road, and launch an investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the head-on crash.

The Psematismenos-Zygi road serves as an important secondary connecting route for local motorists and coastal transport in the southern Larnaca region. Road safety officials continue to urge drivers across Cyprus to exercise heightened caution on regional roads, where narrow lanes and changing traffic conditions demand full concentration.
