Πλημμυρίδα στο οδικό δίκτυο Λεμεσού-Παφού, συσσωρεύονται νερά κοντά στα Πολεμίδια

Heavy rainfall is affecting several stretches of the Limassol-Paphos highway, causing water to collect on the road surface near Polemidia, police said Friday. The warning was issued by the Cyprus Police and highlights the immediate danger posed by standing water. The alert covers the entire stretch between Limassol and Paphos, affecting both northbound and southbound lanes.

Drivers are urged to use extra caution, reduce speed, keep a safe distance from vehicles ahead and turn on their headlights. Police advise that reduced visibility and the risk of hydroplaning increase the likelihood of accidents in wet conditions. Cyclists and motorcyclists are especially vulnerable and should consider postponing their trips.

The Limassol-Paphos highway (A6) remains partially affected, with water pooling reported in specific sections close to Polemidia. Authorities remind road users that the existing speed limits apply and that unsafe driving in such conditions may result in fines. The Department of Road Transport (TOM) is monitoring the situation and coordinating cleanup efforts. Local authorities have deployed additional signage to warn drivers of the hazardous conditions.

Motorists are encouraged to check weather forecasts before setting out, ensure wipers and tires are in good condition, and to drive defensively. Continued heavy rain could extend the disruption, so travelers should plan alternative routes or delay their journey until conditions improve.
