Delivery Rider Robbed at Knifepoint in Larnaca District

A 49-year-old food delivery rider was attacked in the Larnaca district of Cyprus on Tuesday night by a group of ten masked individuals who allegedly used a knife during the assault. The incident occurred around 11:20pm as the rider was cycling through a residential area of Larnaca. Ten suspects stopped him, forced him to flee on foot while abandoning his motorcycle, and then pursued him before cutting him off. The victims reported that the attackers wore masks throughout the encounter and appeared armed.

The delivery rider was injured but managed to escape unharmed enough to continue his work the next day. His motorcycle was located separately in Larnaca later, along with his delivery bag which contained cash and personal documents. The damaged bag was later found near a burn site, suggesting the attackers may have set it alight to destroy evidence. The Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department has opened a formal inquiry into the robbery and is seeking witnesses who may have seen the perpetrators.

Authorities emphasize that the safety of road users remains a top priority across Cyprus. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about violent crime targeting vulnerable workers in the logistics sector. Investigators are reviewing security footage from nearby cameras and will conduct interviews with local residents who witnessed part of the event. The case underscores the need for improved patrol coverage and community awareness programs to deter such crimes in urban areas like Larnaca.
